SHARKS NOT ABLE TO CONTINUE HOT-HITTING AGAINST ROX

The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks were unable to blast out another double-digit score and were downed by the Brockton Rox 6-2. Sharks starter Kyle Brenner (Brandeis) went 7 innings but took the lose on the night, while Rox reliever Jamie Faber (Union) got the win while only pitching the 7th inning.

The Rox got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a Tyler Graves (Jones JC) single that scored Brendan O’Brien (SNHU) from 3rd. Martha’s Vineyard was not able to score until the 5th inning, when Chris Miller (Seton Hill) grounded into a double-play, but was able to score Eric Brenk (Wofford). Another Graves RBI came in the 6th, which put the Rox ahead 2-1.

In the top of the 7th, both teams were able to put up runs. Nik Campero (UMASS) scored on a Miller single to tie up the score. In the bottom half of the inning, the Rox were able to go ahead for good. Dave Pepe (Pace) and Elliott scored on a Rob McCunney (Fordham) single to left. Insurance runs were put up in the 8th by the Rox and the Sharks were defeated 6-2. Nashua was able to move into first place by a .5 game, but the Sharks have a quick turnaround and chance for redemption against these same Rox on the Vineyard at 635 pm.

There are some changes to the future schedule: August 4th is now a doubleheader starting at 4 & 645, August 7th start time is now 645, August 10th is a rescheduled game with the Rox starting at 7, and the playoffs begin August 11th!
