Yesterday a group of 15 volunteers descended upon Vineyard Baseball Park and almost completed the installation of 282 baseball seats from the famous Camden Yards, the home of the Baltimore Orioles; in one day! The crew started at 9:00 AM and finished near 7:00 PM. The seats are extra wide seats (normally seats are 18 inches, these are 19 inches) that sit directly behind home plate providing great views from any seat. There are seven rows of seats spread out over 84 feet with the press area located after the very top row, dead center behind home plate.
The combination of lights, which will allow us to play our schedule starting this baseball season at 6:45 PM, the stadium-style seats and the landscaping of the area surrounding the field will completely change the feel of being at a Sharks game.
The Sharks have sold close to 100 reserved seats, each for the next three years, with a goal of selling 200 reserved seats in order to pay for the seats and the work required to install and construct the cement foundation and the main structure. The cost will be approximately $135,000; expensive, but well worth it.
We need your help to reach that goal…come up to the field and tryout a few different seats and grab a few before we reach our target.
Thanks and Go Sharks!
