SHARKS CONTINUE HOT-HITTING TO DOWN DIRT DAWGS

The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks beat the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs on a night where Sharks starter Bob Carbaugh (Seton Hill) became the all-time single-season leader in wins with his perfect 8-0 record. Dirt Dawgs starter Chris Columbo (Bates) took the loss on the night after giving up 9 runs through 6 innings. The Sharks once again started the scoring early in the 1st inning. Ryan Siegel (Mercyhurst) led off the inning with a single and eventually came around to score. In the 3rd, both teams were able to push across runs. Tyler Mikrut (SEMO) blasted a homer to start the inning for the Dirt Dawgs, but this would be all the offense they would muster against the Sharks. In the bottom half of the inning, multiple errors by the defense would score 3 Sharks, Tad Gold (Endicott), Siegel, and Nick Sanford (UMASS).

The starter Carbaugh would cruise through the rest of the game before being removed from the game due to the pitch count rule. He went 8 innings, giving up 1 run, 7 hits, while striking out 8. The Sharks were able to extend their lead with runs in the 4th, 6th, and 8th innings. Dylan Tice (IUP) continued his hit-hitting with 3 more RBIs on the day.

There are some changes to the future schedule: August 4th is now a doubleheader starting at 4 & 645, August 7th start time is now 645, August 10th is a rescheduled game with the Rox starting at 7, and the playoffs begin August 11th!

Sharks have a rare day off, but return to action Wednesday (7/31) at the Brockton Rox with first pitch at 705 pm.
